New Engineered Hardwood Flooring in Our Home

We built our house about 7 years ago and have slowly been updating all the of the builder grade finishes throughout the home. The biggest improvement we've made has been replacing the flooring. We had builder grade carpet and vinyl flooring throughout our home from when we built it. The bathrooms and laundry room have been tiled, (blog posts coming soon) while in the rest of the house, we installed Mullican engineered white oak flooring. A wide-plank and matte-finish flooring. The same wood was also used on the stairs. They had matching stair noses for this flooring, that paired with the white risers, turned out beautifully.

When we built the house, we always knew we'd replace the flooring, so we didn't waste the money upgrading our selections. Seven years later, we were able to rip out the carpet on both floors of the house. We needed something that would stand up to our 3 kids and black lab. Engineered wood flooring was the best option for us. It stands up to a lot, easy to clean and it will last a long time. It can even be refinished once, if needed. We bought area rugs for most of the rooms to soften the look and allow us to change them as needed.

Each floor of our home took a full weekend for Eric to install. He had 1-2 people helping him through each of the weekends. They nailed down this flooring, though it can also be glued down. We also replaced all the trim in the house with 5 1/4 in trim. This has also made a huge difference in elevating the look of our home.

We look forward to continuing to share the work we do to upgrade our home.
